Rail security summit: NetCo assesses the situation ahead of the decision Key message: Security work requires a system of SOPs, training and technology – not just procurement. Ahead of the security summit in Berlin, there are increasing signs of additional protective measures in the rail and public transport sector. The summit has been officially confirmed by Deutsche Bahn, as have corresponding demands by the EVG for more protection in everyday operations. Further measures are currently being discussed in media reports and should be marked accordingly until officially published. NetCo recommends that operators start operational preparations immediately, regardless of the final decision:
- clear activation rules (SOP), - practical de-escalation and application training, - data protection-compliant preservation of evidence, and - a 30/60/90 implementation framework with measurable key performance indicators. “In tense situations, it is not the camera alone that decides, but the operational readiness of the organisation. Those who neatly integrate SOPs, training and technology create reliable security for employees and operations,” says NetCo. ### Assessment of the current situation - Official: Security summit announced. - Official: EVG calls for, among other things, an expansion of protective measures and body cams.
